Plastic has unfortunately found its way into our everyday lives – and our oceans. While plastic was created to be a durable material that could stand up to repeated use and a variety of conditions, most plastics that we consume are only used once – and then discarded.

Plastic doesn’t ever decompose either, it only breaks apart into smaller and smaller pieces until it’s so tiny that it ends up in EVERYTHING. Studies have found that 90% of the food we eat and the water we drink contains microplastics, and plastic has been found in 100% of sea turtles, 59% of whales, 36% of seals, and 40% of shorebird species tested.

But Blueland has committed to a different approach – instead of single-use bottles, their products come as Forever Bottles with refill tablets. Simply fill the bottle to the line, drop in the tablet, and let magic (and science!) do the rest.

Their line of products has now grown to include the majority of the cleaning products consumers regularly use at home and in the office. Bathroom essentials are covered – hand soap, toilet bowl cleaner tablets, bathroom cleaning spray, and glass and mirror spray. Kitchen staples include multi-surface cleaner, dishwasher tablets, and powdered dish soap. Detergent tablets and oxi-boost powder for laundry are available as well. The newest product – powdered body wash that mixes with water to create a creamy cleanser – marking their foray into personal care essentials.

Blueland also sells a few eco-friendly ‘extras’ such as flattened pop-up sponges and scrubbers, cloud cloth, and dryer balls.

Blueland products have helped to eliminate over 1 billion single-use plastic bottles from landfills and oceans since 2019.

Blueland’s eco-ingredients are carefully selected to be safe for both humans and the planet. All of the packaging is recyclable, compostable, or both. Because their products are not mixed with water before shipping (like most cleaning products we buy) and are instead just small tablets or powder, the shipping weight and required space is greatly reduced which uses far less fuel for transport and economizes cargo space. They also keep a close eye on their production processes in order to optimize their energy and water usage.
